Inclement Weather Policy

The Head Coach is responsible for monitoring the weather and communicating in a timely manner weather or not to cancel or postpone practice.  During practices and games, parents are advised to stay close by when weather conditions are iffy so they can help coaches get all players to safe shelter in the event of severe weather.  Please note that lacrosse practice fields and most game locations do not have access to appropriate shelter for large groups of people.

Lightning/Thunder – In the event of thunder or lighting, all individuals shall leave the field and reach a safe shelter. Everyone MUST wait at least 30 minutes after the last flash of lightning or sound of thunder before returning to the field of activity.  Seek shelter in an enclosed building or automobile.  "If you hear it, fear it; if you see it, flee it."

Cold Weather Guidelines – Practice will be cancelled with wind chill below 35F and precipation, or if below 30F without precipitation.  Practices will be no longer than one hour if temperatures are below 40F with precipitation or if below 35F without precipitation.  Please ensure players are wearing appropriate attire for practice.  If temperatures are below 40F please wear multiple layers with sweat pants and shirts above pads so they are easy to put on and remove if necessary.  Thin gloves are a good option to wear under padded gloves in cold weather. Synthetic materials are better at retaining heat than cotton when wet from precipitation or sweat.

Hot Weather Guidelines –    We do not anticipate hot weather until late in the season but if temperatures are above 90F we will consider light practices without pads and with plenty of water breaks.  Practices will be cancelled if heat index is above 100F (Heat Advisory).

Tornados – Practices will be cancelled if there is a Tornado Watch issued.
